In-ear headphones: wireless and wired
When deciding to buy headphones, we are usually guided by practical considerations: we focus mainly on sound quality, solid workmanship, and comfort of use. For mobile use, we often choose small-sized in-ear headphones. Kruger & Matz offers many models of in-ear headphones, both wired and wireless.
In-ear headphones - what makes them stand out?
In-ear headphones, colloquially known as fleas, are headphones that are inserted directly into the ear canal. They are almost twice smaller and thus lighter than in-ear headphones. Thanks to the proper sealing of the connection between the earpiece and the ear canal, the sound it emits do not penetrate outside, and the listened content is not perceived by the environment.
When we are talking about cheap and good in-ear headphones
Cheap in-ear headphones can be found in the price range of about PLN 40-60. These are simple models, in different colors, with different sizes of silicone overlays. The price of headphones with a microphone and Bluetooth technology is higher than PLN 60, usually around PLN 100-150, although you can find cheaper and more expensive models. When it comes to the technical parameters of the equipment, it is worth considering:
- frequency response - it tells what frequency range the headphones support. The most common range is 20 Hz - 20,000 Hz; this is the full range that is audible to the human ear;
- impedance - expressed in ohms (Ohm). Average in-ear headphones should not exceed 32 ohms and are typically 16 Ohms;
- efficiency (SPL) - expressed in decibels (dB). A level of 100 to 120 dB with an impedance of 16 to 32 Ohm will provide the appropriate volume;
- headphone operating range - determines the range of sound reception. Average wireless in-ear headphones have a range of up to 10 m. For wired in-ear headphones, the cable should not be less than 120 cm
- maximum working time - an important parameter in the context of wireless in-ear headphones. Determines how long the headphones can operate without charging.
Wireless in-ear headphones - long battery life
When choosing wireless in-ear headphones, the most important thing is their working time without recharging. It is measured in standby mode while talking and listening to music. The optimal working time in standby mode is 24 hours. When we use the headphones as a headset, the values should range from 4 to 6 hours; when we use it to listen to music - it from 4 to 8 hours.

When to choose wired in-ear headphones?
The advantage of wired in-ear headphones is that you can use them properly without interruption; you do not need to charge them. They are also cheaper than wireless models. Wired earphones have a built-in control panel that allows you to control the volume or play the next song on your smartphone without having to take it out of your pocket. Wired headphones are also equipped with a microphone, so you can safely use them during a phone call. The microphone is always in the right position, regardless of whether the cable is carried in front of it or behind the neck.
When to choose in-ear headphones?
In-ear headphones are a good choice for people who experience discomfort when placing and wearing the headphones in the ear canal - because they do not adhere to the auricle as tightly as in-ear headphones. However, it is worth remembering that this has its drawbacks - the in-ear headphones do not sufficiently dampen the sounds from the environment, which can be a problem in noisy places, in the subway, bus, tram, or on a busy street. The lack of soundproofing also works the other way around - if we want to listen to music at work or any other public place, we have to reckon with the fact that the rest of the people will listen to it with us.
